Two Essential Aspects of Success for Executive Business Women

executive business women 200x300 Two Essential Aspects of Success for Executive Business WomenIf you are a newly appointed senior executive, there is a lot to learn. For women in this field, the situation can be competitive and you may even feel the need to defend your right to your new position. Unlike when a hiring manager appoints a low-level worker, many bosses will simply leave you to sink or swim, providing no support at all. So let’s look at two essential elements that you will need to succeed in your new career as a business executive. If your bosses do not help you by guiding you in these ways, you will be on your own. Either way, these two elements of your career must not be overlooked.

Establish relationships: the value of creating and maintaining internal relationships is what will make or break you as a business executive. Being a woman may work in your favor. Others may see you as more approachable. On the other side of the coin, others may perceive that they can take advantage of you or make you weak through appealing to your emotions. So develop your relationships, but always stay sharp!

Establish expectations: How you and your performance will be assessed is crucial to your success or failure as a business executive, so be sure to know exactly what the expectations of you are and how your performance will be measured. It is your responsibility to obtain clarity on what results exactly are expected from you.

If you pay attention to relationships and establishing expectations, you are off to a great start in your executive business career. As long as you keep lines of communication open and apply yourself diligently, these two key building blocks to a great career will stand you  in good stead.
