Five Tips for Any New Business Executive
It can be difficult when you take that first executive position. There is, no doubt, a lot of pressure on you, and you want to perform well. So take these few tips to look at things from a new perspective. It is always useful to see other points of view before making highly impactful decisions:
- Always empower those who work for you. Never criticize them in front of others.
- Try getting input from subordinates before making a crucial decision. They’ll appreciate your interest in their point of view, and they might have thought of something you hadn’t considered.
- When you have decided upon a plan of action, pursue it aggressively.
- When conditions change and your plan becomes nonfeasable, be flexible. Don’t get a reputation for being hard headed.
- Whatever your specialty, spend some time with others in other fields so that you can have a little background in many areas of interest.
