Take Steps Toward Becoming an Executive Doctor of Business
If you are determined to have the best business career you can, then getting an MBA may not be enough for you. You may decide to go ahead and get your DBA. But first you have to get into a doctorate program. A DBA is not the sort of thing you progress to right after graduate school. Your application will require approximately three years of work experience and two reference letters. So, when you go out into the work world, be sure to make an excellent impression so that you can transition easily into a DBA program.
To get into the program you will also need to show education in, and understanding of the following subjects:
- Marketing
- Management
- Accounting
- Finance
- International business
- Entrepreneurship
- Business informatics
These are some of the basic subjects that will be addressed in your course, and while you surely learned a great deal about them in graduate school, you will want to assess which of these topics have been addressed in your on-the-job training. If the world of work has steered you into one specialty and away from others, it could be useful to get some additional, wide-ranging business experience before applying for your DBA program.
