Demand Deposit Account Glossary Definition

Two types of accounts are called demand deposits:

(1) Checking accounts that pay no interest and can be withdrawn upon demand.

(2) Negotiable order of withdrawals (NOW), accounts that do pay interest and can be withdrawn upon demand according to a set of predefined conditions.
