Strategic Business Management For the Home Office

strategic business management 300x155 Strategic Business Management For the Home OfficeDo you think that just because you have a home office, your work isn’t at risk? Security is an even bigger concern in many home offices simply because of the potential presence of children. As much as you love your children, they can actually cause security breaches and safety hazards, so learn to child-proof your office for you and for them.

  • Your computer should be password protected. Children often fiddle with things that interest them, and you wouldn’t want your toddler accidentally sending an email to a client. Children can alter settings without your knowledge, and the complications can require hours to repair.
  • Keep office supplies such as paper clips, staples, and so forth in a locked drawer or out of reach. These seemingly innocuous items can create safety and choking hazards.
  • A child-size desk is a great addition to a home office. This way your child can play at being a grown up while sharing time with you, even though you are doing your work.
  • Book cases should always be attached to the wall. Children sometimes get it into their heads to climb these, and that could be disastrous.

Home offices can be great places to work. You get the fun of being home with the family even while you make money, but keep in mind that they are also business establishments, and anything that interrupts the flow of business can cause you big problems down the line, so be sure to make your child-proof.
