StarVest Partner Deborah Farrington talks IPO Market
A new trend that has developed over the last eighteen months is that institutional investors are looking for profitability rather than growth in their investments, according to Deborah Farrington. She is a partner at StarVest Partners, a New York-based venture capital firm which is the second biggest investor in NetSuite Inc.
In late 2007, the web-based business software company held its initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange. Soon after that firm went public, the IPO market essentially closed and it is only this year that we saw signs of life for IPOs. Farrington notes that although some firms have gone public recently, there are still an alarmingly low number of firms registering to go public with the SEC–and these IPO hopefuls still may back out.
