Every Small Business Solution Needs Financing: 8 Sources You Can Use

small business solution 300x150 Every Small Business Solution Needs Financing: 8 Sources You Can UseHave a great small business idea, but no financing? That money may be closer than you think. It is just a matter of being creative and taking risks. You won’t get anywhere as an entrepreneur unless you are willing to put your own livelihood on the line. Not sure if it’s a good risk? Then it probably isn’t. Do your research first and make sure there is a market for the goods you are selling. Make sure they can be priced affordably, and make sure they can be manufactured and delivered predictably. Once all that is in place, you will have the confidence to get that capital whenever and wherever possible. Here are some potential sources of money:

  1. Your own pockets. If you won’t put up some of the capital, how can you expect others to do so?
  2. Family and friends. If your idea is that good, don’t be afraid to ask those you know.
  3. A line of credit. Before starting any business, you must set up some type of credit line for emergencies, if not for start-up capital.
  4. A bank loan. This is the traditional route, and if you can get one it will make things much easier at first. But remember: small business loans must usually be paid back within a few years.
  5. A business loan from a government organization or NGO. Many organizations and foundations exist to help entrepreneurs.
  6. Participate in a business start-up program sponsored by the government. Many such programs exist to help new business owners.
  7. Find investors. Venture capitalists and private lenders often loan money to those with excellent, innovative ideas.
  8. Look into government grant programs. The labor-intensive process of grant writing can really pay off if you are able to acquire a government grant to start a business that will serve the community. You don’t have to pay these back, so it’s worth the effort.
