Customer Service Job Search
Want to nab a job in customer service?
Heed the following advice on how to put your best resume forward.
- Try as best you can to keep your resume on only one page.
- Make your type flush left.
- Don’t use personal pronouns, i.e. I, me, etc.
- Make your descriptions accomplish oriented, not job oriented. Don’t simply list what you do, explain what successes you achieved.
- Quantify everything as much as possible.
- Present information in the proper order. Education comes first before any job experience.
- Discuss your hobbies only if they’re relevant to the skills required for the job. If you played sports in college, mention that but leave out that you enjoy knitting mittens.
- Don’t list references right on your resume. Instead ad ‘references available upon request.’
- Add as many activities, achievements and relevant programs as possible in order to differentiate yourself and enhance your professional value. Certifications, such as the Customer Loyalty Specialist are especially helpful in proving your qualifications.
