Avoid the Executive Business Listing Scam
There is a company online that numerous executives have become involved with lately. Watch out! It is called Executive Business Listing, and offers a variety of “business to business” leads for a set price. Be warned that this company is involved in a scam! It has been known to send false bills to unwitting executives. The company offers “leads” with the following benefits:
- “no purchase required”
- twenty four cent cost per lead
- use over 60 criteria to build a personalized list
- claims to have a database of over 60 million companies
Often, their bills will come to executives who were not the ones doing the “buying.” Assuming that other executives authorized the purchase of a plan that can cost over five hundred dollars, some executives go ahead and pay the bill, only to find out it is entirely fraudulent.
To check up on this type of scam, it is recommended that you call any contact number given on the e-invoice they send. Ask who in your company authorized the purchase. Often times fraudulent companies will have gotten hold of the name of some worker or former worker at your company, and will give that. Double check it! The scam works by trying to confuse the workers at the executive level into thinking the right hand didn’t know what the left hand was doing. In reality, nobody did a thing. It was all the doing of the “executive business listing” company that is scamming you. There are a lot of scammers out there, both online, on the phone, and in person. So, executives, keep your eyes open!
