Any Business Management Service Should Help Managers Collect Payments
A big part of managing any business is ensuring that payments are collected on time. If your business uses a business management service, then you should be able to delegate that responsibility to them. Unfortunately it doesn’t always work that way, and you are stuck having to collect on overdue bills. There are techniques to help you with this, however.
The method is two-part: first of all, prevent delinquencies from happening, and secondly, assess the reasons for late payment in order to help deserving clients through tough times. In order to prevent delinquencies, you must:
- Require all or partial payment up-front
- Ensure payments will be received within 30 days of invoicing
- Print surcharges for late payments on the receipt
That having been done, delinquencies do happen. It is important when this happens to take into account whether the perpetrator is a long-time customer or someone new. Any old customer will appreciate being offered a payment plan to help them through hard times. Such an action, though it may make things difficult at first, will win you a customer for life, and that is the type of thing that makes all the difference in commerce today. |
