Angel Investors Offer Small Business Loans for Women
Many business persons have heard of angel investors, but still wonder: who are these “angels” and what can they do for you? Angel investors are wealthy people who enjoy the spirit of entrepreneurialism and who believe that they stand to gain by supporting startups. They offer capital in return for equity, traditional small business loans, and even mentoring services. These investors usually invest small amounts than a typical venture capitalist would throw in, but they find investment opportunities that require less capital.
Angel investors can be part of an “angel group,” or an investing group that lessens the risk for all by encouraging all members to jointly invest. If any small business owner is able to gain access to one of these angel groups—through networking, marketing, or filling out loan applications—they may become the recipient of a generous loan that has the advantage of not going through a bank. This way, even if the banks don’t consider you a viable risk, there may be others who do.
If you have exhausted the possibility of a bank loan and haven’t any friends or family to help you get started, you may want to consider looking into a group that provides angel loans. Yes. Even in today’s tough economy, these “angels” are still out there.
