small business score 300x200 3 Hints to Make Your Small Business Score Big Next Year! You survived 2009. Congratulations! Many small businesses didn’t make it through the year. Hopefully the worst part is now over and you can concentrate on making your business the best that it can be. To do that you really have to know your customers, your employees, and your competitors. You have to know who are your allies in the business world and what actions you need to take to make your business thrive. Answer these three tough questions, and you’ll be on your way to a successful 2010:

  1. What unmet need do your customers have? Call them, email them, ask them when you see them. Don’t be shy about it. You have got to find out what their needs are so you can stay ahead of the competition. It’s an advantage that you, as an owner-operator, have over the big corporations. You can talk to your customers from day to day. Use the face time wisely!
  2. What new relationships in business are worth pursuing? New opportunities are out there. New products are waiting to be sold. Which endeavors are most likely to pay off this year? Don’t get swept up in momentum. Make sure that each new project you take on has a purpose and a plan.
  3. How can you be more strategic this year? Always set your direction, look at the big picture, and think of strategizing as a daily practice.
